Innovation Creations

We've come to the end of another exciting term and we've finished in style! From Forest Craft and toasting marshmallows to catching dreams American Indian style and designing and testing Polar Trek sleds! It's been a great term. Class 1 and Class 2 We couldn't have asked for better weather for our first Forest Craft of the year, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and it certainly felt like Spring was around the corner! The children in Class 1 listened to a story about Smartie the Penguin. He receives a new tablet for his birthday and is allowed to play on it once in the morning and once in the afternoon. While playing some strange things happen on the screen. We stopped at key points in the story and discussed what Smartie should do. We learnt a rhyme to help us remember what to do: Before you tap and click...You need to stop and think....And TELL someone! We also discussed who we should tell - parents, grandparents,

Wonderful Writing

Here at St. Giles we take great pride in the writing that our children undertake. Sometimes this is guided and modelled by the teaching and staff, and sometimes completely independent. But whichever of these it is – it is always linked to our topics. In Class 1 & 2 the children have been exploring space and investigating crashed space ships, and the book that they have been using as an inspiration for writing is called Beegu. Written and illustrated by Alexis Deacon, Beegu is the story of a little alien who is not supposed to be on Earth. She is lost. She is a friendly little creature, but the Earth People don't seem very welcoming at all. However, so far she has only met the BIG ones. T
