Countdown to the Summer!

The end of the Summer term is fast approaching and as we look forward to the summer holidays St Giles School isn’t winding down just yet! Over the next four weeks there will be a lot happening. So we thought we’d take stock, write it down and post it for reference. We’ve also put all the dates on the online Calendar on the School Website

 

Week Beginning 27th June

 

Wednesday 29th June New Reception Children Parents and Carers meeting.

This is for all our new families in the afternoon with Mrs Forster and Mrs Maltby. This meeting allows our new starters to find out about our school, ask questions, buy uniform and PE kit from Mrs Bednall, ready for September.

 

Thursday 30th June Year 6 Highfields Dance Festival

The Children are going with Mrs Rogers and Mrs Swift, they will be taking part in the Dance Festival hosted at the upper school. This is part of the Highfield Sports package we are involved in and last year we enjoyed the Street Dance session.

Week Beginning 4th July

 

Monday 4th July Year 4 & 5 Drumming concert

This will start at 9.45am and all are welcome. We look forward to seeing you. This is key stage 2 whole class ensemble teaching with Paul, a Wider Opportunities teacher.

 

Tuesday 5th July Last Swimming Lesson of the academic year and will be a Fun Session.

 

Thursday 7th July Rounders Tournament

Mrs Grainger will be taking a group of children from the juniors to a rounder’s competition. Throughout the year out of school sports activities take place and we like to include every child, this will be our last offsite sports event.

 

Friday 8th July St Giles Sports day

This will start at 9.30 am. Weather permitting. Due to the nature of our British summer we have a back-up Sports day pencilled in for the following Monday 11th July.

Week Beginning 11th July

Monday 11th July Back-up sports day.

 

Wednesday 13th July Year 6 Highfields Upper School

They will be wathcing the Highfields performance – High School Musical

We will be seeing at least one ex St Giles pupil performing, break a leg Sam Hall.

 

Thursday 14th Whole School Trip.

The Infants and The Juniors are going on two separate trips. We are just finalising details and letters will be sent out early next week.

 

Friday 15th July School Reports Day

These are currently being written and can be discussed at parents evening the following week.

 

Week Beginning 18th July

 

Monday 18th July Parents Evening 3.30-5.30

Slips will be sent out to book your time slot but as always if you can’t make it your child’s class teacher can arrange a mutually convenient time to suit you both before we break up at the end of the week.

 

Tuesday 19th July End of Year 6 Performance and Presentation Evening 6pm

The upper juniors will be presenting - A Mid-Summer Night Dream following on from their work around the Bard’s 400th birthday celebrations in March. We will be joined by Father Mark and Governors to present awards to our Year 6 leavers.

 

Thursday 20th July Rio Olympics Day

This is a whole school event. It will be run by Progressive Sports as out final Enrichment Day of this academic year.

 

Friday 21st July Last Day of this School Year - Leavers Church Service 11am

Everyone is welcome and we do look forward to you joining us at St Giles Church. Also at the end of the day and this school year, as the Year 6 leave St Giles School for the last time we invite you to join us to clap them out as they leave the building.
