Dinosaurs, Vikings, The Plague & more..........

October 22, 2016

The beginning of the new school year has been a busy, enjoyable and interesting one for everyone.

It has been wonderful to meet and get to know all of our new children who have joined St Giles throughout the whole school.

Here is a montage of what has happened this half term. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did doing it.

The Infants programming Dino bots to travel around their Dinosaur land maps. They also used stop motion animation to record their programming work.

There was a discovery of a dinosaur egg at school by Class 1 & 2..

Class 3 saw the arrival of a Viking Long boat and a charge of axe wielding Vikings in the playground.

Class 3 visited The Derby Open Centre.  They went to a mosque and gurdwara.

Class 3 also made 2 stop motion animation movie stories about the Vikings.

We held our Harvest Service at St Giles Church with Father Mark.

Class 4 have been working hard. They went away to White Hall on their residential trip.

They also produced some stunning PowerPoint presentations about The Plague. (Apologies to Millie, Lydia and Rocco but when these were converted and uploaded the sound didn't convert) Here are just a few.

Class 4 also grew bacteria in Science.

We won The Fair Trade Fair Player award at the Fair Trade Football Tournament.

We completed a gruelling cross country event at Highfields.

Forest Craft, designed especially for our school and it's wonderful grounds, started with the infants and was thoroughly enjoyed by children and adults alike.

We collected and delivered school supplies for an Orphanage in Sri Lanka.

We held an Open Day to invite people to come and see our amazing school. We will be holding another one in November.

Have and safe and happy half term. See you all on Tuesday 1st November.
