Here at St Giles we teach an inspiring Creative Curriculum which enables the children to Engage, Develop, Innovate and Express. Our expectations are high and this has raised attainment greatly over the past two years.

Our dedicated staff are enthusiastic and support the children to achieve, develop and be happy.

We are also passionate about our extra-curricular activities and experiences we can give the children outside of the classroom.

Every child at St Giles attends Forest Craft in our wonderful school grounds. They are taught bush craft skills (shelter building, fire lighting, outdoor survival skills) Nature preservation and conservation. The weather is never an issue and the objective is to get outdoors and enjoy what nature has to offer.

We believe that children are literally the future of ICT. We run Code Club after school which gives the children the skills, confidence and opportunity to change their world. The children learn Scratch, HTML & CSS and Python by making games, animations, and websites.

We have always prided ourselves on the sporting talents our children have and we nuture our children in their given ability. We attend many events out of school which gives all children the opportunity to take part in many different sporting events. We also work very closely with Progressive Sports and Premier Sports who send in their highly trained coaches to teach many new sports.

At St Giles we work with Wider Opportunities Music Partnership to give our junior children dedicated music tuition. We also have peripatetic music teachers that come into school and give private tuition. The children are given 30 weeks of lessons with Paul, the wider opportunity teacher, which culminates in a live performance. We have some talented musicians at school and all the children enjoy their weekly music lesson.

Our Vision for St Giles CoE Primary School

St Giles Primary School will be an exciting, caring environment for every one of our children: they will learn, and be actively encouraged to develop, to their full potential and leave us as well-educated, confident, responsible individuals with a strong set of Christian values.

More specifically

We will provide an exciting and enriching environment for our children in which they will learn and develop. In learning we will focus on exploiting the superb outdoor environment we have in and around the school: our aim is to make the curriculum real and dynamic and bring subjects, such as science, to life.

All pupils will receive good and outstanding teaching.

We will recognise the needs of each individual child and we will actively support and help all our children to achieve their potential: we will actively encourage and expect high achievement from them.

We will develop our children to be confident, responsible individuals with a strong core of Christian values.

We will strive to be judged externally as ‘outstanding’.

We will have an excellent reputation in the wider community and play a wider active role in fostering a vibrant, healthy community
