We are very fortunate to have a committed and dedicated team of governors. Their role is crucial in the development of St. Giles CE Primary school.
The law states that the purpose of governing bodies in our type of school, is to “conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement at the school” (Section 21(2) Education Act 2002).
In practice this means we have six core functions:
Strategic leadership that sets and champions vision, ethos and strategy
Accountability that drives up educational standards and financial performance
People with the right skills, experience, qualities and capacity
Structures that reinforce clearly defined roles and responsibilities
Compliance with statutory and contractual requirements
Evaluation to monitor and improve the quality and impact of governance
Please find below details of our Governing body, including the names, categories, responsibilities for each Governor.
John Bolton - Trust Governor, Chair of Governors and link governor for Pupil Premium
I am a Foundation Governor of ‘St Giles CE Primary School ’ and am a member of the teaching and learning committee.
The school is a delightful place within which to work attended by wonderful children. As a governor of St Giles I can offer support, bought from my own educational setting, in the areas of strategic budgeting, school pupil data analysis and school performance. As well as being kept busy at school I am a keen mountaineer, mountain biker and surfer. I thoroughly enjoy any activities involving the outdoors and with my wife can often be found in the hills of Derbyshire or Lake District.
