  • Mystery Reader

    Wed 08 Nov 2023

    Mystery Reader!

As a school we want to welcome our parents, carers and grandparents into school at the end of the day to read to their child's/ grandchild's class.

The reason we have chosen ‘Mystery Reader’ is because we want to keep your identity a secret to build anticipation and excitement for our children! For this to work we ask for you to answer 3 simple questions so we can provide the class with clues about our ‘Mystery Reader’. You can either bring an age appropriate book of your choice (shared with staff in advance) or use one from our school library which is age appropriate for the children. ‘Mystery Reader’ is going to be introduced to our children during the first week of this term.

When - You have the choice of when you'd like to be a Mystery Reader. It can be any weekday from Monday to Thursday at 3pm over the course of the school year.

How - Please pop into the office with a date of your choice and they will confirm with you if the date is available. Remember it’s a mystery so please don’t tell your child/ren when you are going to come into school

We hope to welcome lots of mystery readers into school.

    Thank you for your support,

Miss Simpson and the St Giles Team

  • Little Smiles

    Thu 28 Sep 2023 Mr. O'Connell

It was lovely to welcome families and younger children to St. Giles today for the start of our new parent and toddler group: Little Smiles!

A huge thank to staff for getting the wonderful provision ready. Have a look at the photos below to see the wonderful and wide range of opportunities for our young children.

  • Start of teacher led Forest Schools

    Fri 22 Sep 2023 Mr. O'Connell

Friday morning saw the start of our Forest Schools sessions, led by a member of teaching staff from within our partnership of schools. This term it is the children in Year 5 taking part in our wonderful grounds (which have had a huge make over - thank you governors).

The children listened to a story about some little men who left Riber Castle and made their way through the school grounds, leaving behind some threads from their jackets.  The children used these to make bracelets.

The children then worked together to build shelters, before playing some games of trust  and finishing with a well deserved hot drink.
