Early Years

Welcome to Early Years

 We have high ambitions for all our children and recognise that children have different starting points to their learning.

At St. Giles we plan according to children’s stage of development so that all of our children can flourish and develop. We aim for children to be well-rounded individuals who are independent, resilient and confident in themselves and with others.

 Our staff share the children's learning in the Class 1 blog. Take a look at the wonderful learning which our children have been enjoying.

Early Years forms the first stage of our progressive school curriculum. We have identified the progressive steps for all of our children. You can find out more in the information below.

Enabling environment

Our indoor and outdoor learning environment is carefully planned and set up to allow child-initiated play; it provides all of our children with carefully planned opportunities to explore, create and learn through exciting, stimulating, interactive and accessible resources.

We prioritise the teaching of early reading and language at St. Giles, so that all of our children are:
+ better able to communicate;
+ able to express themselves clealry;
+ read and access high quality texts.

But how do children develop the knowledge and skills? This short presentation, delivered to our parents, shares some insights. We hope you find it useful!
