Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community. (World Health Organization)
At St Giles CE Primary and Nursery School, our Christian vision shines through in all we do. We are a happy, safe and caring school where every child can achieve and thrive.
Our Christian vision is:
“Let us run the race that is before us and never give up.”
Hebrews 12:1
Our Christian values guide us to be friendly, generous, respectful, courageous, forgiving and to keep going, even when things are tough.
We also believe that looking after our mental health and wellbeing is very important. At St Giles, we support both children and staff so that everyone feels cared for and safe. Sometimes this is through whole-school activities, and sometimes through more individual support when it’s needed. By working together in this way, we help everyone in our school community feel happy, secure and ready to learn.
We’re excited to announce that our wonderful Ms. Whithorn will be hosting a ‘Cuppa and Connect’ session once every half term!
These sessions are a chance for parents and carers to:
• Enjoy a relaxing cuppa
• Catch up with friends
• Meet and connect with other members of our school community
We understand how important it is to take a moment for yourself, and we hope this voluntary session will provide just that.
We’d love to see you there, so please join us for this wonderful opportunity to connect and unwind. ✨
🌱Children’s Mental Health Week 2024 🌱
We celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week with a variety of engaging and meaningful activities centered around the theme “Know Yourself, Grow Yourself.” 🌱
Our goal was to help children understand the importance of mental health and self-awareness. Throughout the week, we had many discussions about how we feel when we experience different emotions and how we can navigate through some emotions while embracing others. Many children shared examples of things that made them happy, sad, or worried, and we supported each other in understanding that feeling different emotions is perfectly okay. We are all here for each other. 💖
