We recognise the vital importance of science in our everyday lives and believe that children's experiences of learning about science should help to develop the way our children understand the world. It should be interesting, exciting and motivating. Our approach includes hands-on practical application and encourages children to explore their natural curiosity to build their confidence and knowledge. They learn how to work scientifically through a range of different types of enquiry that enables them to ask and answer questions, then plan and carry out investigations.

The following investigative skills are developed through our science curriculum:

- Questioning

- Research and planning

- Predicting

- Observing and measuring

- Experimenting

- Analysing

- Explaining and Evaluating

We endeavour to prepare children for the next steps in their education by encouraging them to be confident and experienced scientists with an interest in the world around them.
