St Giles History

St Giles Church of England Primary and Nursery School was established in 1991 through the merger of two long-standing Church schools in Matlock: Matlock Town CE Primary and Starkholmes CE Primary. Built on land provided by St Giles Church, our school continues the rich tradition of Christian education in the community. At St Giles, our Church foundation is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to nurture each child’s spiritual, moral and academic development, encouraging them to flourish in a safe, caring environment. Guided by Christian values, our vision is to inspire a love of learning, foster respect and kindness and equip children to serve others with compassion and hope. This enduring partnership between church, school and community continues to shape and enrich the life of everyone who is part of St Giles.
