๐๐คฉCALLING ALL PARENTS, CARERS AND GRANDPARENTS๐คฉ๐
A gentle reminder that this Friday (25th October) we have our Book Look and Stay and Play followed by the PTFA celebration in the school hall.
We value the importance of parental involvement in school life and believe that by sharing your child's work and books and providing opportunities for you to come into school, it will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of their development and learning journey at our wonderful school.
This is an opportunity for your child/ren to show you around their learning environment and an opportunity to celebrate their work.
On the day, please sign in at the school office and our friendly office staff will show you to the classrooms. After you have spent time in your child's classroom please make your way through to the hall where you will be greeted by the wonderful PTFA team.
Thank you,
Miss. Simpson and the St Giles Team ๐

๐๐Reading Volunteers ๐๐
Our children benefit immensely from having volunteers who help in various ways in school. The skills, experiences and dedication our volunteers bring are greatly valued by both the children and staff and we are therefore reaching out to invite parent volunteers to come into school and help us.
We are currently looking for reading volunteers. If you have some time to spare and would like to get involved in supporting our children’s literacy development, we would love to welcome you into school. As a reading volunteer, you would listen to individual children read, offering encouragement and guidance to help them build their confidence and fluency.
No prior experience is necessary—just a love for reading and a desire to help our children succeed! Your time and effort would make a huge difference in their progress, and it’s a wonderful way to be involved in the school community.
Here are a few details to keep in mind:
• Days and times: We are flexible with days but ask for any volunteers who would be available in an afternoon.
• Commitment: an hour or two can be incredibly valuable, and we will work around your availability.
• Training: There will be a short safeguarding and reading session (tea and cake will be provided ๐ซ๐ง) which will be led by Miss Simpson. This session will be no longer than 30 minutes. Once we have interest we will provide a date for this training. You will also be required to undertake Prevent Training and read some of our school policies.
If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know by contacting the office either in person or via enquiries@st-giles-matlock.derbyshire.sch.uk with your interest and availability.
Thank you for considering this opportunity. Your support can have a lasting impact on our students' love for reading and their academic journey.
