  • Stay and Play / Book Look

Sat 02 Mar 2024 Bethany Simpson

    🌟🀩CALLING ALL PARENTS AND CARERS🀩🌟

Every half term we would like to invite you to come along to our ‘Stay and Play’ sessions which are aimed at Class 1 and 2 parents and carers, and our ‘Book Look’ sessions which are aimed at Class 3 and 4 parents and carers.

We value the importance of parental involvement in school life and believe that by sharing your child's work and books and providing opportunities for you to come into school, it will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of their development and learning journey at our wonderful school.

Our next Stay and Play session will take place on Monday 11th March from 2:45pm until 3:15pm. This is an opportunity for your child to show you around their classroom, see their wonderful work and a chance to play with your child in their learning environment. On the day, please sign in at the school office and our friendly office staff will show you to class 1 and 2.

Our next book look session will take place on Wednesday 13th March after school from 3:15pm until 3:45pm. On the day, please collect your child as normal and then enter school through the main school entrance. Please allow time for teachers to dismiss the children safely at the end of the day before queuing at the front door. During the allocated time, you will be able to spend time in your child's classroom, where all of their work, books and displayed work will be available for you to share and celebrate with your child/ren.

    Thank you,
Miss. Simpson, Mr O'Connell and The St Giles Team 🌟

  • ⭐ Kindness Spotlight ⭐

Thu 01 Feb 2024 Bethany Simpson

    Kindness Spotlight

Our School Councillors are very proud to announce our 'Kindness Spotlight'. As a team, they have worked together to decide how this achievement would work at our school. The kindness spotlight links with our school aim: "achieving through kindness, compassion and perseverance" which is an area the school Councillors have focused on since September.

What is the kindness spotlight and how does it work?

Every week each class teacher will chose a member of their class. During circle time the children will share comments about that chosen member. We will then celebrate this as a whole school during our celebration worship on a Thursday. Today was of first time of introducing the 'kindness spotlight' during celebration worship; it was lovely to hear the children say such wonderful, inspiring and carefully thought about comments about our 4 children who have been chosen for the kindness spotlight this week.

    Well done ⭐

  • NSPCC Number Day

Fri 26 Jan 2024 Bethany Simpson

    NSPCC NUMBER DAY!

We are delighted to be supporting the NSPCC by taking part in Number Day on

    Friday 2 February 2024.

Everything the NSPCC does protects children today and prevents
    about tomorrow

The NSPCC need our support more than ever. By raising money, we can help to fund their
vital services such as Childline – the helpline that’s always there for children and young
people whatever their problem or concern.

On average, a child contacts Childline every 45 seconds

    Making maths meaningful

Number Day is a great way to make maths fun and bring about a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude
    towards it.

We are having a fun day of maths activities, and we will be taking part in Dress up for Digits. Pupils are asked to wear an item of clothing with a number on it (football shirt, cap, netball shirt or even a onesie!). Or get even more creative by dressing in a maths or numbers theme!

To help raise money for the NSPCC, we are asking for donations, and we’d love everyone in the school to take part in this special event. We’re really looking forward to all the fun of Number Day, and we really appreciate your support. All the money we raise at St Giles will make an enormous difference to children today and help the NSPCC be there for children tomorrow.

  • Mystery Reader

    Wed 08 Nov 2023

    Mystery Reader!

As a school we want to welcome our parents, carers and grandparents into school at the end of the day to read to their child's/ grandchild's class.

The reason we have chosen ‘Mystery Reader’ is because we want to keep your identity a secret to build anticipation and excitement for our children! For this to work we ask for you to answer 3 simple questions so we can provide the class with clues about our ‘Mystery Reader’. You can either bring an age appropriate book of your choice (shared with staff in advance) or use one from our school library which is age appropriate for the children. ‘Mystery Reader’ is going to be introduced to our children during the first week of this term.

When - You have the choice of when you'd like to be a Mystery Reader. It can be any weekday from Monday to Thursday at 3pm over the course of the school year.

How - Please pop into the office with a date of your choice and they will confirm with you if the date is available. Remember it’s a mystery so please don’t tell your child/ren when you are going to come into school

We hope to welcome lots of mystery readers into school.

    Thank you for your support,

Miss Simpson and the St Giles Team
